Many Fabrication & Engineering (MF&E) is a fast-growing regional fabrication and engineering business delivering high-quality projects across the mining, industrial, civil, government and agricultural sectors.

We're looking for an experienced Draftsperson – Steel Fabrication & Detailing to join our Gunnedah-based team.


About the Role

This is a hands-on drafting role—not a graduate engineering position. Your drawings go straight to the workshop floor, so practical fabrication knowledge is essential.

You'll:

  • Produce fabrication drawings, part drawings, and mark-ups.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, and/or Tekla to deliver accurate and buildable outputs.
  • Work with cutting-edge tools like the Trimble X7 laser scanner for precision site planning.
  • Manage your own workflow from initial mark-up to final workshop issue.
  • Proactively ensure your drawings are efficient, practical, and workshop-ready.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years' drafting experience in a fabrication or engineering setting.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, and Tekla.
  • Solid workshop/fabrication understanding—you know how steel is cut, welded, and assembled.
  • Strong self-management, organisation and communication skills.
  • Permanent right to work in Australia.

Note: This role is not suitable for graduate engineers or applicants without practical fabrication drafting experience.
