Head of People, Learning & Culture (Community Sector)

About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior leadership role oversees all People, Learning & Culture functions including Human Resources, Organisational Development, Learning & Development, and Workforce Wellbeing.
You will lead strategic people initiatives that build safe, supported, capable, and resilient teams. Your leadership will help embed trauma-informed and child-safe practices, enhance employee engagement, and strengthen workforce sustainability across a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Culture
- Lead and implement the People, Learning & Culture strategy aligned with the organisation's mission and growth goals.
- Design and deliver culture and engagement initiatives that foster trauma-informed and inclusive environments.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to drive performance, employee experience, and workforce sustainability.
Key Focus Areas
- Lead HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and performance systems.
- Manage HR frameworks, data, and policies aligned with legislation and organisational values.
- Oversee employee wellbeing programs to support resilience, morale, and workforce sustainability.
- Drive learning, onboarding, capability development, and training initiatives.
- Lead organisational development, including workforce planning, leadership capability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years in a senior HR or People, Learning & Culture leadership role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and workforce wellbeing.
- Proven experience in L&D strategy, organisational capability, and people development.
- Excellent communication, coaching, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with HR systems, workforce data, and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of employment law, WHS obligations, and SCHADS Award application.
Desirable
- Experience in child, youth, disability, NDIS, or community services sectors.
- Familiarity with therapeutic or trauma-informed models such as TBRI, DDP, CPI, Blue Knot, or PBS.
- Understanding of Child Safe Standards and NDIS Quality Indicators.
- Experience with internal coaching, facilitation, or reflective supervision.
