The Operations Manager – Water is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all water treatment and network systems across Altogether's portfolio. This includes leadership of the Water Operations Team, oversight of contractors, and continuous improvement of operational performance in alignment with Altogether's strategic, regulatory, and customer service objectives.
About Us
Altogether is a sustainable private utility providing drinking water, recycled water and wastewater services, embedded energy networks and hot water systems to communities including greenfield and urban infill communities. In total, Altogether is providing utility services to over 400 communities and ultimately 100,000 customers by 2025.
We own and operate 7 treatment facilities and reticulation networks in NSW which will serve more than 20,000 homes and businesses when completed.
Our Water Team drive is creating next-generation water utilities that enable self-sufficient communities and exceed the expectations of our customers through innovation, leadership and smart-thinking.
Core responsibilities
- Champion Altogether's safety-first culture, ensuring all operations align with WHS and environmental obligations
- Create an inspired team environment and open communications culture.
- Provide operational leadership and technical oversight.
- Develop workforce capability through mentoring, training, and performance planning.
- Set clear team responsibilities and goals.
- Oversee day-to-day team operations.
- Monitor and report on team and plant performance.
- Provide regular feedback to team members on their work and business performance.
- Ensure personnel's training and development align with company and team objectives.
- Ensure all operations comply with the Water Industry Competition Act (WICA), Drinking Water Guidelines, EPA license conditions, and internal quality standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise treatment performance, energy use, and asset reliability.
- Ensure accurate use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for asset tracking and reporting.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring expenditure aligns with financial delegations and strategic priorities.
- Lead operational readiness and emergency response planning across all sites.
- Represent Altogether as required at relevant external forums and present a professional and positive image of the Company.
- Participate in feasibility and engineering assessments on development proposals across the Altogether business.
- Accountable for the implementation of the Water Quality Management System
- Full team accountability to prepare and deliver on budget and financial delegation.
What will you bring to the role?
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline
- 5-10+ years relevant industry experience
- Current Driver's License
- Water/Wastewater Treatment Utilities industry
- Experience with SCADA and CMMS systems.
- Strong understanding of WICA and Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
- Proven track record in regulatory reporting and asset performance improvement.
- Distributed workforce management
