**_ Lead the transition towards integrated catchment management for NSW_**
The Strategy & Policy Division in the Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a **Manager Water Policy & Legislation** for a fixed-term period to 30 June 2026 to deliver a new Integrated Catchment Management Work Program.
Lead a new team developing effective, evidence-based reform options to address policy and governance challenges to improve water quality and river system health at a catchment scale. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of reform for the health of NSW catchments. The new team led by the Manager Policy & Legislation will deliver recommendations to Government for an enhanced integrated catchment management framework and governance model by June 2026.
Critical to the success of the project will be the ability to coordinate and collaborate with relevant agencies involved with land use planning, water planning and natural resource management in NSW to identify complex policy issues and provide considered, strategic advice and solutions.
In addition to recruiting the new team, preparation of a detailed project delivery plan and setting up appropriate governance arrangements and engagement models are required to support successful project initiation and delivery.
**Key Aspects of the Role**
- Foster strong collaboration and lead stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation with key NSW government agencies, other jurisdictions, stakeholders and academic institutions, using transparent, purposeful and inclusive engagement approaches and drawing on extensive stakeholder input undertaken to date
- Critically analyse current water and land-management policy and legislative frameworks to identify effective, relevant, practical, and cost-effective policy solutions and make recommendations that seek to achieve a whole-of-government approach and reduce red tape, where appropriate
- Lead the research, preparation and collation of Cabinet and other submissions, Ministerial briefing papers, correspondence and documents to ensure information is current, accurate and objective.
- Provide strong leadership in management of the team including people, financial and project management responsibilities, collaboratively across the NSW Water Strategy Team.
