About the Ngaanyatjarra Council
The Ngaanyatjarra Lands are managed by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group, a wholly community-led entity that represents the interests of Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) who reside in the communities of Warburton, Irrunytju (Wingellina), Papulankutja (Blackstone), Mantamaru (Jameson), Warakurna, Tjirrkarli, Tjukurla, Wanarn, Kiwirrkurra, Patjarr and Pira Kata (Kanpa). Each of the Communities is an autonomous, separately incorporated body. Tjukurrpa (Dreamtime) is central to life in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands with Yarnangu having an unbroken connection to Tjukurrpa for more than 65,000 years.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated Full-Time Relief CDA to join our team and provide flexible, high-impact support across our communities. In this role, you will deliver community development programs, capacity-building initiatives, and stakeholder engagement on a full-time, relief basis adapting to the dynamic needs of different communities as required.
Your primary mission will be to empower communities to achieve their goals while ensuring alignment with the Ngaanyatjarra Council's broader strategic objectives. You will support and mentor community members, facilitate consultations and workshops, and assist in implementing programs that address youth development, employment, cultural preservation, and more.
You will collaborate with community leaders, organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are culturally appropriate, sustainable, and consistent with Council priorities. Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to quickly adapt to new environments are essential, as you will provide support across multiple communities on a rotational basis.
About You:
You are a proactive and adaptable individual with a strong passion for community development and a commitment to empowering remote and Indigenous communities. You possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in a public service environment.
- Experience working in remote or Indigenous communities, with a deep understanding of their unique challenges and opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build trust-based relationships with community members and stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Commitment to capacity building, mentoring, and skills development within communities.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently and work across multiple remote locations.
