What You'll Be Doing
The Nurse Practitioner provides person-centered care at an advanced nursing practice level incorporating diagnostic and treatment interventions using a high level knowledge, skills and autonomy to achieve people focused quality care.
Provide clinical nursing leadership, ensuring advanced assessment, person centred management planning and investigation including physical assessments, diagnostic reasoning ad referrals, together with therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacological interventions, for people with substance used disorders within the NP scope of practice.
To manage care across a variety of health systems to maximise outcomes - engaging in complex and critical thinking; integrating information and/or evidence; judiciously use clinical investigations; skillfully and empathetically communicating with all involved in the care episode, including he person receiving care and their family and community, and health professional colleagues.
To engage in practice as guided by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards Framework.
Selection Criteria
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and current practicing certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or working towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the ability to complete all requirements within 2 years.
- Demonstrated comprehensive clinical skills, competence and leadership in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with substance use disorders including physical, mental health social and cultural dimensions.
- High level knowledge and understanding of current and trending issues impacting on the provision of AOD care in NSW.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with proven ability to use appropriate teaching/learning strategies to educate and support others within the specialty and the profession.
- Proven ability to critically evaluate and integrate relevant research findings into decision making about health care management and interventions.
- Evidence of implementing interventions and monitoring outcomes to evaluate and improve patient care.
- Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
