Are you an experienced early childhood professional with a passion for leadership, compliance, and team mentorship? We're seeking a dynamic Assistant Director to support our part-time Service Coordinator and Centre Manager in maintaining high-quality practice and regulatory compliance across our centre.
About the Role
As Assistant Director, you will be a key leader in our centre stepping in when the Centre Manager is unavailable, supporting the Service Coordinator, and ensuring smooth operations. You'll be off the floor approximately 3 days per week, focusing on:
- Compliance & Regulatory Standards – support the Centre Manager in maintaining adherence to the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS), Education & Care Services National Regulations, and centre policies.
- Administrative Leadership – manage invoicing, billing, record keeping, policy review, and documentation updates.
- Child Safe Standards – champion child-safe practices and ensure all safeguarding measures are upheld.
- Team Mentorship & Leadership – guide, coach, and motivate educators to achieve professional growth and high-quality outcomes.
- Supporting Leadership Team – provide direct support to the part-time Service Coordinator and Centre Manager in operational and compliance tasks, ensuring consistency and excellence across the centre.
- Adaptability under Pressure – confidently prioritise tasks, manage competing responsibilities, and maintain quality and compliance standards under pressure.
While primarily off-floor, you'll remain actively involved in leading by example and fostering a professional, collaborative, and supportive team culture.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has minimum 5 years' experience in early childhood education, with strong compliance knowledge.
- Holds a Diploma (minimum) in Early Childhood Education & Care (ACECQA‑approved).
- Has proven experience as Assistant Director, or similar leadership role in long day care.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of NQS, Regulations, EYLF, and quality frameworks.
- Can work well under pressure, prioritise effectively, and adapt to evolving centre needs.
- Inspires and motivates teams through positive leadership, clear communication, and mentorship.
- Has experience with invoicing, policy review, auditing processes, and documentation.
