If you have an interest in medical reception 'with a difference' and are looking to work in a vibrant and refreshing environment with an energetic and inspiring team, then we want to hear from you
Next Practice Deakin is a state-of-the-art medical practice dedicated to providing a 'new kind' of care. With a committed health care team using contemporary care models and enabled by purpose-built technology, Next Practice provides great care for the community.
Next Practice has a unique operating model so that we can deliver a new kind of care in General Practice. The patient advocate role is customer service driven with an emphasis on making the patient's experience with the clinic a positive and optimal one. Many of the traditional functions of a practice manager are 'replaced' and achieved through automation, centralised services or devolved to patient advocates.
About the role
We are looking for someone who is invested in going above and beyond, delivering emotionally intelligent customer service and patient care that aligns with our culture and values of creating centres of excellence.
The patient advocate's core purpose is to perform a combination of administrative and practice management tasks within the clinic, working closely with other patient advocates, doctors, nurses, clinical team and the clinic owners. It's a hands-on role ensuring an optimal patient experience and the smooth operation of the clinic.
About you
You should be flexible and agile, organised and an exemplary team player. You should be courteous, helpful and have an intrinsic desire to care for people, by nature, promise and skill. Communication is critical and these skills need be impeccable.
Ideally experienced in medical reception and / or an enrolled nurse interested in administration, you should be confident in using technology and have familiarity with using the MS suite of products. An awareness of Medicare requirements, item numbers, systems & processes together with some knowledge in General Practice accreditation, compliance & RACGP guidelines is preferred but not essential.
In summary, you will need to have the natural ability to seamlessly support patients, clinicians, visitors and stakeholders with a friendly and professional manner.
Tasks include:
- Welcoming and receiving patients on arrival
- Working with the team to ensure no calls go unanswered
- Managing billings & appointments
- Monitoring, managing and actioning correspondence in and out
- Assisting with local area marketing and content for social media channels
- Actively supporting practitioners and patient advocates
- Keeping up to date on all new regulations, programs and incentives
- Ensuring all registers, policies & procedures are kept up to date
- Performing simple clinical tasks such as observations
- Participating in team huddles
- Assisting clinicians to ensure IT and processes run smoothly throughout the day
About Next Practice Health
Next Practice Health has a passion for innovation, reimagining the patient, GP and clinic experience. We have redefined support roles within the practice and developed an end-to-end tech solution to assist with the whole patient experience allowing doctors more time with their patients.
We are reimagining the experience, and this requires a culture where we operate like a start-up. This involves operating lean, going above and beyond the traditional expectations of a role and working efficiently. Everything comes back to being humble, hungry and working smart, being compassionate and looking for growth and learning opportunities.
