Role Purpose
This is a full-time contracted role until February 2026, to support internal transitions and promotions within the team.
This position will form part of an integrated team in the Hastings Support and Safety hub, providing, women families and young people with coordinated access to the information and support they require to be safe, strong and connected.
As part of this multidisciplinary team, GSANZ Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioners play a vital role in delivering screening, triage, crisis response, and coordinated referrals. Practitioners assess and prioritise risk and needs, provide targeted interventions, and support clients through phone, in-person, and outreach services. They work collaboratively to ensure safe, informed practice, participate in case planning, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
About The Role
- Conduct screening, triage, assessment, crisis response, service planning, and referrals aligned with practice frameworks and risk tools.
- Assess and prioritise risk and needs of women and children experiencing family violence within a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide support via phone, in-person at the hub, and outreach services.
- Collaborate on integrated risk assessment and planning, including case conferences.
- Refer clients to specialist practitioners or leaders when needed for safe practice.
- Initiate Central Information Point (CIP) requests and service allocations.
- Apply for client brokerage and navigate broader service systems.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM system, ensuring compliance with privacy and information sharing policies.
- Engage in training, supervision, and contribute to service model improvements.
- Share learnings and integrated approaches across the Orange Door and GSANZ teams.
About You
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related tertiary discipline is essential in accordance with REC 209
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high pressured environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diverse range of referral and support options available to women and children who have experienced family violence, vulnerable families presenting with complex needs and perpetrators of family violence within the Bayside Peninsula region
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Best Interest Principles and the ability to undertake Best Interest Assessments of children
- Knowledge of cultural safety requirements and ability to develop cultural safety action plans with clients when required
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience within Women and Children's Family Violence Services, Integrated Family Services, Men's Referral Services, DHHS Child Protection and/or Aboriginal Community Service Organisations
- Ability to positively contribute to consultation processes, communities of practice, reflective practice and continuous improvement processes
