About the business

Kisdoo Art studio focuses on teaching fundamental art techniques to children and teenagers. Based in Wheelers Hill, (SE suburb of Melbourne) we provide professional instruction and our most junior class is offered to students from Year 1 to Year 6 and senior class for Year 7 to Year 12 students.

We build students fundamental art skills and educate on a range of art techniques, including sketching, acrylic painting and watercolour painting.

About the role

You will work together with an instructor in a small art class.

Minimum 6 months of formal teaching or tutoring experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up and wrap up classroom before class and after class
  • Instruct students fundamental art techniques, sketching, drawing and painting
  • A valid Working with Children Check is required before commencement
  • Report student learning progress through learning portal
  • Pre-term preparation (familiarise yourself with lesson plan delivery)
  • Deliver School Holiday workshops

The role is part time and the operational hours during school terms are:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 4pm to 6pm (2 hours each)
  • On a Thursday or a Friday our instructors are required to work from 1 pm - 6 pm (1 x 5 hours)
  • Saturday 8.45am pm (8 hours)
  • Sunday 8.45am pm (6 hours)

We are looking for a teammate who can commit to the following work schedule:

  • 3 x weekday shifts plus Saturday and Sunday
  • 4 x weekday shifts plus Saturday or Sunday

The hours are fixed each week during the school term. Please note - operating hours during school holidays, are Mon - Fri 9:00am - 4:30pm.

About you
  • You have excellent drawing and painting skills (sketching, watercolour and acrylic painting)
  • You are passionate about visual arts and excited about teaching art principles to young kids
  • You can clearly articulate your art knowledge and demonstrate techniques
  • You have exceptional time management skills to deliver a lesson plan, provide feedback and ensure children complete the work
  • You are confident, organised and punctual
  • You are possibly an ongoing/undergraduate in fine art/design or other related areas
  • Australian work authorisation is required for this position
