About the Role

Kirby Contract Grading Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with strong estimating and project management skills. The role involves managing small to medium civil projects from initial estimate through to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed cost estimates and project breakdowns
  • Manage multiple small ("micro") civil projects simultaneously
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and design plans
  • Assess project requirements, constraints, and construction methods
  • Prepare tenders, quotes, and supporting documentation
  • Oversee site activities to ensure work meets plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Identify and manage risks, variations, and scope changes
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth delivery
  • Monitor quality, safety, and environmental compliance on all works
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting

Required Experience and Skills

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in civil construction or infrastructure delivery
  • Proven ability to estimate and manage project budgets accurately
  • Strong understanding of roadworks, drainage, and general civil construction
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation
  • Skilled in project planning, scheduling, and cost control
  • Competent in using estimating and project management software (e.g., Excel, CAD, Project)
  • Sound communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Current driver's licence; Professional registration preferred
