Estimator - Electrical

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an Electrical Estimator to join the Downer team located Brisbane QLD.

The opportunity

The Electrical Estimator will support the estimating function through the effective management of Downer's estimating and validation of WIP and cost to complete validation on our Water projects for the Energy & Utilities business unit. The successful applicant can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

What you'll do

• Assist the Project Manager in ensuring design is checked against capital budgets during design development, and documentation
• Negotiate with suppliers to attain best price that will delivery Projects on or under agreed budgetary targets
• Provide expert technical support and advice to delivery teams and the wider Programs on estimating issues
• Actively participate in the project development processes within the Program to deliver value for money outcomes and develop comprehensive understanding of the scope of works and construction methodologies for projects
• Prepare and submit regular monthly reporting to the project management team and Regional Electrical Manager
• Maintain and improve the Program work breakdown structure, consistent with Client requirements for asset capitalisation

What we're looking for

• Electrical Tertiary or trade qualification (Desirable)
• Excellent Knowledge of Electrical & Communication Standards and Regulations (AS3000, AS3012, S009, etc.)
• Experience in AutoCAD 2D preferred
• Demonstrated experience with estimating software packages and take off abilities
• Well-developed organisational skills - including written and oral communication
• A sound commercial knowledge and understanding of the financial requirements of the deployment processes.
• The ability to work well within a team as well as on sole-charge work
