About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Part-time Company Accountant to join the team at VISIS Private Wealth in Brisbane, Queensland. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing the company's financial accounts and reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional to contribute to the strategic direction and growth of our reputable wealth management firm.

This is a part-time position for 3 days per week, with scope to increase.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and tax regulations

  • Analysing financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making

  • Managing accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, reconciliations, and vendor payments

  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections

  • Implement internal controls and streamline financial processes.

  • Providing ad-hoc financial support and advice to the management team as required

  • Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, and other tax obligations.

  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.

  • Process payroll and ensure timely payment of superannuation and entitlements.

  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with Fair Work requirements.

  • Maintain and improve accounting systems (e.g., Xero)

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar financial accounting role, preferably within the financial services industry

  • Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to work accurately under pressure

  • Proficiency in using financial software and spreadsheet applications

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
