The Company

B Lab is the not-for-profit organisation behind Certified B Corporations, working to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. A leader in economic systems change, the global network creates standards, policies, and tools for business, and certifies companies that are leading the way. B Lab's team in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand is part of a large global network and an even larger movement. To date, there are over 10,000 Certified B Corporations spanning more than 160 industries, employing over a million people around the world.

B Lab Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand (B Lab AANZ) supports almost 750 B Corps based in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to measure and improve their impact, and to tell stories that inspire new purpose-driven businesses to do the same.

The Role

The Communications Manager is responsible for producing a range of written materials to support B Lab AANZ's narrative, brand, and community engagement. This role collaborates across the team to identify opportunities to influence policy and public narratives, support businesses to meet B Lab's standards, and build awareness of the B Corp movement.

Working with a local team and colleagues throughout the global B Lab network, the Communications Manager aims to build a credible thought leadership profile for B Lab AANZ and manage its reputation. The manager also supports B Corps in related communication to empower them to advance the B Corp movement's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing and editing for B Lab AANZ channels, including blogs, op-eds, newsletters, media releases, and occasionally social media
  • Collaborating on a communications calendar with the Marketing Manager, and ensuring timely delivery with support from the Marketing & Communications Coordinator

You are agile and adaptable, comfortable with shifting priorities and wearing multiple hats, and you excel at teamwork and stakeholder management. A safe pair of hands who remains composed under pressure, you produce high-quality drafts that require minimal revision.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

  • Experience in writing and distilling complex messaging for varied audiences
  • Strong ability to span both strategic oversight and task-oriented delivery, working autonomously when required
  • Highly organised and confident in managing and communicating priorities across a team
  • Knowledge of the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand media landscape and cultural contexts preferred

Looking to make an impact? With B Lab AANZ you will be joining an impact-driven organisation and a team of passionate, purpose-driven individuals who are committed to using business as a force for good. The team is collaborative, committed, positive & playful, inclusive, practical & adaptable, which creates a positive team culture of inspiration and passion for B Lab and B Corps.

This role is offered as a permanent full-time position based, with flexible working conditions, including 2 days per week from home, and 3 days in the recently expanded, beautifully equipped offices in Collingwood, Melbourne.
