Phillip Riley is proud to partner exclusively with MPower to deliver this recruitment campaign. This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the forefront of Australia's renewable energy transition, backed by Wollemi Energy Group's significant investment and ambitious growth pipeline.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Development & Acquisitions, the Network Connections Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring successful grid and distribution network connections for MPower's portfolio of sub-5MW renewable energy projects across Australia.

This role requires technical expertise in network/grid compliance, regulatory processes, and stakeholder management, working closely with DNSPs, TNSPs, AEMO, and specialist consultants to deliver efficient, compliant, and future-ready renewable projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end network connection process for solar and BESS projects up to 5MW.
  • Liaise with DNSPs, TNSPs, and AEMO to progress connection applications and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Review technical studies (steady state, dynamic, and protection studies) and provide input into substation design and protection requirements.
  • Coordinate with specialist consultants on modelling (PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory) and review their outputs.
  • Ensure projects comply with Australian distribution network standards, codes, and connection processes.
  • Support commissioning and R2 compliance responsibilities where required.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement in MPower's grid connection approach.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Minimum 2 years' post-graduate experience in a Network/Grid Connection role in Australia.
  • Experience liaising directly with DNSPs/TNSPs on distribution connections (11kV–66kV).
  • Solid understanding of AEMO regulations, compliance, and Australian connection processes.
  • Familiarity with grid modelling tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory.
  • Knowledge of steady state and dynamic study reporting, plus substation and protection design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven stakeholder management capability.
  • Practical, hands-on mindset – thrives in a lean, dynamic team environment.

Why Join MPower?

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing Australian renewable energy company at an exciting stage of expansion, backed by significant investment from Wollemi Energy Group. You'll work alongside an experienced leadership team, manage high-impact projects, and contribute directly to Australia's clean energy transition.

Please Note
