Manning Support Services (MSS) is an award-winning community service organisation that has been operating on the NSW Mid North Coast for more than 40 years. MSS is a multi-service not-for-profit, with a mission to enhance the quality of people's lives by providing services which enable them to live with dignity and respect.
MSS is seeking a facilitator for our Men's Behaviour Change Program. As a Men's Behaviour Change Facilitator, you will work as part of a team to foster positive change and accountability for men who use violence in their relationships (the program is delivered by a female and male facilitator as per NSW Practice Standards). The position is 24 hours per week, business days, working in Forster/Tuncurry and Gloucester.
About the RoleAs a Men's Behaviour Change (MBC) Facilitator, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a range of services to support men to cease their use of negative behaviours while maximising the safety of women, young people and children.
The MBC Program provides a comprehensive service, including case management and support to participants and their female partners and ex-partners. This consists of individual intake sessions and needs assessments, individual counselling and group programs using CBT principles, psychoeducation and group discussion.
The service is accredited under the current minimum standards for MBC programs and is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice.
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesThis role includes:
- Supporting individual clients through assessing client needs, case management and goal setting, undertaking ongoing risk assessments and ensuring safety is prioritised using risk management strategies
- Facilitating group programs and providing high-quality, ethical and professional interventions and facilitation, recognising each person's capacity for change
- Promoting the group with other agencies and helping to develop MSS's MBC Program, including through community engagement activities and developing positive working relationships with stakeholders
- Ensuring delivery is culturally appropriate
- Timely and accurate record keeping and report production
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, funding guidelines, research and resources
- Compliance with the NSW MBC Practice Standards and ensure their successful achievement in MSS's programs
Essential Criteria - Qualifications and Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related social science discipline
- A demonstrated understanding of the Men's Behaviour Change process and the gendered nature of family violence
- Commitment to enhancing the safety of women and children who have experienced male violence
- At least two years' experience in provision of group work, intake assessment and risk assessment working with men who use violence
- Skills in advocacy, negotiation and teamwork
- Demonstrated willingness to engage in reflective practice that considers a gendered and feminist analysis of behaviours, thoughts and feelings
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills developing effective working relationships with men, women and children, government and non-government agencies, and other external stakeholders
- Having and maintaining a current National Criminal History Check, and an Employee Working with Children Check
- Current NSW driver's licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
Highly Desirable
- Completion of 'No to Violence' Graduate Certificate in Male Behaviour Change Group Facilitation
- Previous participation or working knowledge of the State Government's integrated framework of 'No To Violence' minimum standards of quality practice response to family violence
