An exciting opportunity awaits, a highly motivated and experienced Road Train Mechanic to join our Maintenance department. The role will be responsible for the execution of servicing and heavy maintenance on a fleet of Kenworth C508 heavy haulage road trains with dual side tipping trailers.

This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and availability of the coal haulage road train fleet and we are looking for someone who will look after this fleet with pride. When required you will also integrate into the wider maintenance team to assist in the maintenance of our mining equipment fleet.

This position offers the flexibility to live locally or DIDO on a 7 days on 7 days off day shift only roster. The Blair Athol Coal mine is located an easy 20 minute commute from the family-friendly township of Clermont in Central Queensland, 120 km northwest of the FIFO hub of Emerald and an easy driving distance from nearby coastal communities.

Key Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate with operators to keep equipment performing at its best
• Inspect equipment for defects and prepare detailed repair scopes
• Diagnose issues quickly and carry out effective repairs
• Complete scheduled servicing on both tractor and trailer units
• Partner with maintenance planning and execution teams to maximise service efficiency
• Deliver high-quality work with pride and attention to detail
• Maintain accurate records and clear handovers for incoming crews
• Contribute positively to a supportive, high-performing team culture
• Uphold the highest standards of safety and environmental care
• Apply sound judgement to make timely, effective decisions
