Lighthouse Building Automation is on the lookout for experienced Building Automation Technicians and Control System Project Engineers to join our team.
Our operations span a broad range of projects and breakdown focused automation solutions and contracting services in the Northern Territory, including automatic lighting control (KNX and C-BUS), building management systems (BMS) and energy management systems (EMS).
This will be a highly diverse role requiring someone willing to learn, working within an agile team on interesting projects. This will be a combined role of technical work (design, programming and on-site commissioning) as well as managing project delivery.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
Project Design:
- Collaborate with the client and team to create designs for Building Automation Systems.
- Develop and review electrical & mechanical schematics, drawings and design specification documents for various projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in electrical design.
Project Management:
Manage automation projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, and documentation.
Coordinate with Renko Group cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met, on time and within budget.
Troubleshoot and address any issues that may arise during project execution.
Maintenance / Breakdown Work:
Perform diagnostics and repairs for automation systems during breakdown situations.
Quickly assess and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain system efficiency.
Conduct preventive maintenance to prevent future breakdowns.
Automatic Lighting Control Programming:
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Lighting Automation System controllers, with a focus on KNX and C-Bus systems.
Ensure the reliability and efficiency of control logic and sequence of operations.
Perform commissioning and functional testing on-site.
- Submit commissioning and Handover Takeover documentation (HOTO)
BMS and EMS Programming:
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Building Automation System controllers, with a focus on Tridium Niagara. This includes Building Management Systems and Energy Monitoring systems
Ensure the reliability and efficiency of control logic and sequence of operations.
Perform commissioning and functional testing on-site.
- Submit commissioning and Handover Takeover documentation (HOTO)
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation for all control system designs, programming, and project-related activities, including functional description specifications, points lists, and commissioning documentation.
Create operation manuals and training materials for end-users.
Keep accurate records of project progress and changes.
Desirable Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field experience.
- Proficiency in BMS or Lighting Automation programming, with experience in industry-standard software (or a strong desire to learn Building Automation)
- Proficiency in programming (script &/or logic block), CAD software
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be organised and willing to learn project management skills
- Interest and competency in the use of technology and AI systems to streamline efficiency.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of industrial automation components and systems.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
- Ability to work autonomously and work in a team environment.
