About the Role:

In this newly created role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment to all employees, including executive leadership. You will lead and mentor the payroll team, manage payroll compliance with relevant legislation and company policies, and continuously improve payroll systems and processes. This role involves collaborating with HR, finance, and external vendors to resolve payroll issues, implementing best practices, and driving strategic initiatives related to remuneration and workforce planning. Ensuring data integrity, audit readiness, and exceptional customer service are key priorities in this leadership position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Payroll team to deliver exceptional payroll services to 1300+ employees (and growing), the CEO, and Board members.
  • Manage day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of fortnightly pays.
  • Identify workforce trends related to remuneration and benefits, collaborating to implement workplace improvements.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls, risk management, and audit frameworks.
  • Proactively drive system, process and procedural improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and stakeholder relationships.
  • Coordinate internal and external payroll audits and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, legislation, and standards.

The successful candidate will be CA/CPA qualified with tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related field, with extensive senior leadership experience within a payroll environment.
