About the role

We are seeking applications for casual Information Officers to work across all City of Swan Libraries, with hours available for coverage from Monday to Sunday. These roles include delivery of programs and/or assisting customers at our service desks. Community focused individuals who are friendly, energetic, quick to learn, and IT savvy are encouraged to apply. We aim to employ a pool of casuals who are available on short notice and have time during the week where they are able to provide shift or program coverage when our permanent team members are on leave or out of action.

We are looking for confident individuals to deliver programs across a wide range of ages, from early years through to seniors programs with a passion for creative and performing arts, including music, creative writing, arts and crafts. In addition, we are looking for confident public speakers that can adjust and adapt to variety of situations, in the context of the delivery of library programs.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Act as the first point of contact and provide a high standard of customer service to all customers seeking Library and/or City of Swan information and respond to their request or ensure they are referred to the appropriate City Officer or external agency;
  • Process financial transactions, including rates and other Council payments, and reconcile accounts in accordance with City of Swan & SLWA procedures;
  • Assist clients to use City and library technologies and online resources enabling customers to access information on the City of Swan and Libraries websites; access the Internet through the Libraries PCs and Wi-Fi connections; and assist customers in accessing the library's resources;
  • Operates within a framework of well-established procedures and workplace routines with direct supervision from senior staff;
  • Promotion of City and Library services to the community through a range of media and public;
  • Support specialist staff in promotion and delivery of Inclusive Community Learning Programmes including, but not limited to - adult learning sessions, author talks, youth workshops, tech-help sessions, book-clubs, and early literacy programs.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Secondary Graduate Certificate or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced customer service environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A satisfactory National Police Certificate
  • A Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain

The hourly rate for this position will be from $ $37.61 plus 25% casual loading, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
