This breakthrough process produces a growing range of ultra-high purity aluminium materials – oxides, hydroxides and nitrates – used across advanced industries such as LED lighting, synthetic sapphire, semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.Alpha HPA's materials deliver market-leading purity with a dramatically lower carbon profile. The Stage One HPA First Project in Gladstone is now in production – the first commercial application of Alpha HPA's proprietary SX process, producing >99.99% pure alumina and aluminium materials.Construction of the large-scale commercial facility (Stage Two HPA First Project) is underway, with full-scale HPA production targeted for mid-2027. Once operations, Alpha HPA will produce ~10,000 tonnes of HPA equivalent per year, right here in Gladstone.The OpportunityAlpha HPA is seeking an experienced Site Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join its Gladstone team. This role offers a rare opportunity to contribute across both the construction and operations phases of a major greenfield project.During construction, you'll report to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, supporting commissioning and operational readiness for Stage Two of the HPA First Project. Once the plant becomes operational, you'll transition into the maintenance engineering team, focused on reliability and performance of critical plant assets.Key responsibilities include:Ensuring compliance with electrical and instrumentation regulatory standardsApproving HV switching programs and maintaining electrical registersProviding electrical and instrumentation design, project management and cost estimatesReviewing vendor manuals and developing maintenance strategies for CMMS integrationCompiling asset management plans and supporting CMMS build for Stage 2 operationsOversee changes to maintenance strategies and master data, ensuring complianceLeading improvements in reliability, maintenance and shutdown processesManaging external specialists and ensuring site compliance with standards.About YouYou'll bring:Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential)Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance engineering within complex processing environments such as minerals processing, oil & gas or chemicals manufacturing (8+ years desirable)Experience in HV and LV electrical systems, instrumentation and controlsDemonstrated experience in greenfield project construction, commissioning and maintenance system setupProven analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teamsExperience in instrumentation and controls systems in complex processing plantsGood technical engineering skills and understanding with emphasis on pressure systems, rotary kilns/dryers, furnaces, pumps, machine guarding, maintenance cost analysis, and reliability improvement techniquesSolid understanding of maintenance cost analysis and reliability improvement tools and techniques (EG: FMECA, RCM, etc.)Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS); familiarity with The Asset Guardian (TAG) highly regardedYou'll thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoy seeing large-scale industrial projects through build to operation.Your RewardThis is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering an attractive salary based on experience, plus benefits.You'll be based at Alpha HPA's Stage One Yarwun site in Gladstone, working within a collaborative, hard-performance team and enjoying genuine long-term career growth as the small commercial plant progresses to full-scale production.Next StepsFor more information and to apply for this role, click the "Apply" button and upload your Resume or contact Tim O'Brien on for a confidential discussion.Even Better LivingFor a glimpse of the fantastic lifestyle and even better living you can enjoy here in the Central Queensland region, watch our short 90 second video below featuring Gorden Tallis.
