About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to Engage Marine Group. Engage Marine Group is an Australian port operations provider delivering specialised marine services to a variety of industries. Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Engage Marine also has operational bases throughout Australia. Engage Marine is seeking a skilled Technical Superintendent to join our team in Port Hedland. This role is residential. There will be a preference for the successful candidate to reside in the Town of Port Hedland area or relocate if successful.

This role is responsible for overseeing vessel maintenance, safety compliance, contractor management, and operational efficiency to support the delivery of high-quality marine services. Key responsibilities include:


• Leading by example and ensuring all colleagues are fully conversant with safety and other Engage Marine Group policies, procedures and guidelines.


• Promoting a strong safety culture by participating in safety meetings, enforcing HSEQ compliance, and ensuring all incidents and near misses are reported and investigated.


• Foster and promote good relations and communications between and among shipboard personnel, client representatives and all stakeholders.


• Building and encouraging mutual trust, respect and cooperation amongst all team members.


• Contractor management for vessel and other asset maintenance activities.


• Promoting individual accountability amongst team members and maintaining a high level of work standards, culture and behaviours.


• Ensure the safe execution of maintenance activities and adhere to the maintenance strategies developed for each tug.


• In collaboration with Fleet Manager, develop a technical plan for the coming 1-3 years and ensure implementation and execution of this plan


• Process and authorise purchase orders for maintenance purchases

About you


• Recognised Trade Qualification in Marine Engineering or equivalent.


• Minimum 3 years' experience in the Maritime industry associated with vessel management and maintenance.


• Highly developed and professional approach in combination with interpersonal and effective communication skills.


• Able to communicate and gain support for the implementation of maintenance strategies and improving safety and operational performance of vessels.


• Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and control own workload.


• Good efficient IT Skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office


• C Class Driver's License.
