About the Role
Our reputation has seen the business experience considerable growth, and we are looking for a highly experienced First Class Welder to join our team. As a First Class Welder, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding tasks on a variety of materials and structures. Your expertise will ensure that all welding work meets the required specifications and standards, contributing to the overall success of our projects.
- This role is based at MGC Headquarters & Workshop in Wangara
- Full Time, Permanent
- $100,000-$125,000pa + Super
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Join metal sections using various welding techniques, as well as bolting and riveting.
- Inspect welds for bead width, penetration, and precision.
- Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and treating with acidic solutions.
- Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding.
- Analyse blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand job requirements.
- Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for processing.
- Cut metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.
- Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, as well as heating and hammering techniques.
- Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Additional
- Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to determine welding requirements.
- Inspect materials and structures to ensure they meet quality standards before and after welding.
- Maintain and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any issues promptly.

Qualifications
Mandatory
- Cert III – Engineering (Welding) or related field
- Current WA Drivers Licence
- WA Police Clearance – no more than 1 year old
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience as a first-class welder
Desirable
- Senior First Aid training
- Construction Safety Awareness Training (White Card)
- Other relevant certificates and or competencies are also desirable
