About Us:

We are a commercial maintenance and soft landscaping company specialising in new housing developments across Melbourne's growth areas. We are passionate about creating beautiful, sustainable outdoor spaces and maintaining them to the highest standards. We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on Team Leader to join our dedicated team and lead projects that make a lasting impact on the community.

Role Overview:

As a Hands-On Team Leader, you will play a critical role in leading a team of maintenance staff in the field. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of maintenance and projects in new housing estates, ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead by example and support your team to deliver outstanding results on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and motivate a small team of staff and contractors, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Oversee the execution of soft landscaping tasks, including planting, turfing, mulching, garden bed installation, and front yard packages.
  • Supervise and coordinate commercial maintenance activities such as mowing, edging, pruning, and garden maintenance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices, maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Train and mentor team members, providing ongoing support for skill development and growth.
  • Monitor project timelines, materials, and resources to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and stakeholders to provide updates and resolve any issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any challenges that arise on site in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • There is a large amount of travel in between sites which is compensated.

About You:

  • Proven experience in soft landscaping and commercial maintenance, with a strong knowledge of horticulture.
  • Ability to operate various equipment including: Zero turn mowers, skid steers and excavators.
  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role, with a hands-on approach to managing and working alongside a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and team members effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • A passion for the industry, with a commitment to delivering quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Current driver's license (manual preferred).
  • White Card (Workplace Safety) and any other relevant qualifications or certifications are highly regarded.
