Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.
About the role
The role of Senior Project Officer will support the Respectful Workplace Support Team to embed Legal Aid NSW as a respectful workplace, and to support Legal Aid NSW staff and managers resolve workplace conflict and culture issues.
This role will offer senior project and other support to the Respectful Workplace Support Team. This includes providing advice, guidance and support to staff and managers, facilitating the resolution of culture and conflict issues in the workplace, and driving positive change through workshops, training, uplifting policies and procedures, and other proactive measures.
About you
The successful candidate will possess strong skills in communication (both written and verbal), project management, and conflict resolution. You will effectively manage workplace concerns and provide holistic solutions which consider the diverse needs and expectations of stakeholders across the organisation. You have demonstrated project management skills and experience managing competing priorities through excellent time management. You are committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all staff and have demonstrated experience supporting staff from diverse backgrounds.
You will provide evidence-based recommendations and use research and best practice to underpin project planning and decision-making processes.
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
- Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
- Hold an Australian or New Zealand citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
Key knowledge and experience
- Significant experience managing workplace concerns and uplifting policies and practices to address concerns in a consistent and holistic manner.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or work experience. Psychology, social work or another field that provides a solid base for resolving workplace concerns is desirable.

Drawing on your experience, outline your approach to delivering such advice. What key factors do you consider to ensure your guidance is effective, respectful, and aligned with organisational values and policies?
Provide an example of a time when you supported the resolution of a workplace conflict or culture issue. Describe how you assessed the situation, managed individual needs as well as diverse perspectives of the stakeholders involved, and contributed to a fair and pragmatic resolution.
