Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Data Governance Lead
to design, implement, and embed data governance frameworks across our clients' enterprises. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, practical execution, and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. You will work closely with executives, data stewards, and cross-functional teams to build a sustainable governance culture and ensure the effective management of critical data assets.

Please note:
This role requires you to be onsite at our client's Preston office
three days per week
.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, aligned to DAMA DMBOK principles.
  • Develop and operationalise a
    Critical Data Elements (CDE)
    framework, ensuring consistent definitions, ownership, and quality controls.
  • Drive the setup and delivery of
    Master Data Management (MDM)
    initiatives, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Establish governance processes, roles, and policies to enhance data quality, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Facilitate and run workshops with business and technical data stewards to build governance awareness, alignment, and adoption.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to embed data governance into business-as-usual processes and decision-making.
  • Support the selection and implementation of governance tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
  • Monitor and report on governance KPIs and maturity progress.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in
    enterprise data governance implementation
    across large or complex organisations.
  • Strong understanding of
    DAMA DMBOK
    and its practical application.
  • Demonstrated experience in building
    CDE frameworks
    and delivering
    MDM solutions
    .
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across business and technical teams.
  • Experience in facilitating governance workshops and training sessions for data stewards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain governance concepts in business-friendly language.
  • Knowledge of data governance tooling (Collibra, Alation, Informatica) is highly desirable.
