About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and hands-on chef to assist the kitchen team at Jungle Buddies Play Centre – a busy, family-focused indoor venue located in Five Dock.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, loves creating high-quality meals and sweets, and wants a better work-life balance. You'll lead a small, friendly team and help maintain our high standards of food, cleanliness, and service.

Roster: Wednesday to Sunday – mainly daytime hours, with occasional evenings for events. Need a chef for Wednesday and Saturday only - casual hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Help lead and manage day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Prepare and present meals and sweet items to a high, consistent standard
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleaning protocols
  • Help oversee stock ordering, rotation, and food cost management
  • Work with management on menu planning and specials
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff
  • Ensure a calm and professional kitchen atmosphere – even during peak times
  • Occasionally assist with evening events or functions

About You

  • Proven experience as a chef
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP)
  • Excellent time management and leadership skills
  • Organised, calm under pressure, and solutions-focused
  • Pastry/baking experience highly regarded – we make most of our sweets in-house
  • Positive and collaborative attitude
