Your Opportunity
As the Marketing and Events Officer you will:
- support the delivery of a program of events and marketing activities across the Region;
- provide support to the Marketing team including assisting in the publication production processes and development of flyers, brochures, event materials.
- lead the EDMs development for the Marketing team for events and student recruitment communication.
- provide high quality, proactive administrative, marketing and communication support to the Marketing team.
This position reports to the Manager, Marketing
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.
The position will be based primarily at Cairns however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery, staging and promotion of a program of internal and external events and marketing activities across the Region, including careers exhibitions, open days, promotional events aimed at successful student recruitment and award ceremonies.
- Contribute to the development of marketing collateral and campaigns, communications and engagement strategies, projects and team planning activities with a focus on new student recruitment.
- Identify key promotional items that would enhance the business development and growth opportunities in the Region, in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Maintain an understanding of the contractual obligations associated with both internal and external events including analysing and interpreting marketing and promotional policies, protocols and competition guidelines.
- Provide administrative and financial services to support the activities of the Marketing team, including budget spreadsheet management, financial reconciliations and purchasing requirements.
- Contribute to the development of digital marketing content with a focus on EDM creation in Marketo and execution and monitoring of social media channels, updating regional webpages, updating team intranet pages and digital publications.
- Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships and actively engage with key business, industry and region stakeholders.
- Maintain an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE Queensland including products, funding sources, income streams and the relevant ASQA requirements of marketing a VET organisation.
- Proactively participate in state-wide networks for Marketing and Events seeking opportunities for self- development and contributing to the development of the team through knowledge sharing and the provision of support, guidance and collaboration.
- Provide support to members of the TAFE Queensland Marketing team during short term projects, including: website updates, automation, campaign, content and market research.
- Administer financial requirements of TAFE Queensland Marketing including processing of purchase requisitions/orders, goods receipting, invoice processing, journal and accrual preparation, cost recovery and corporate card reconciliation.
- Manage marketing assets and liaise with regional teams to provide assets for events. Keep register up to date and purchase new items as required. Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Demonstrated experience in project managing multiple events, with high-level organisational skills and demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated high-level written communication skills and the ability to produce collateral across a variety of marketing communication platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and administer financial and administrative processes.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including the ability to establish positive and productive working relationships within the work group and with internal and external stakeholders.
- Displays flexibility and responsiveness and has the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment

Highly Desirable Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Marketing or a related discipline.
- 4+ years in a similar role organising large scale events
- Experience with Marketing Automation
- Experience with Social Media.
- A current driver's license.
