Newcastle Womens Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (NWDVCAS) are  seeking  an  Assistant Manager to work in our main office in Newcastle.

This is a wonderful opportunity, to utilize your skills and experience as an Assistant Manager in a fast paced Community Services Program .

Approx. 70 hours per fortnight - Pay Rate SCHADS Award Grade 6 (level is dependent on qualifications and experience)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We require an Assistant Manager to support the overall administration and coordination of the NWDVCAS service, while maintaining direct engagement with the NWDVCAS clients. Forming part of the leadership team, we are seeking an experienced leader to guide the team in service delivery and client engagement.

Reporting to the manager, you will promote culturally responsive leadership and inclusive practices and will be responsible for the ongoing development of team members. You will be responsible for making informed decisions, take responsibility for outcomes and guide the team through challenges.

The key responsibilities include:

· Assist the Manager in service delivery, and the overall administration and coordination of the service

· Assist the Manager in developing and administering operational policies and administrative tasks, system and processes, for the effective operation of the service

· Coordinate and manage the operation of discrete areas of NWDVCAS such as an outreach service

· Coordinate projects or other various tasks relating to the operation of the service at the request of the Manager

· Analyse data and implement strategies to improve service delivery and reporting

· Attend professional development activities, training and team meetings which may require travel

· Attend regular supervision – internal and external

· Contribute to the preparation of appropriate resource and referral materials for the service

ABOUT YOU

You will assist in development and implementation of operational policies, systems and processes, ensuring the effective operations of the service. With an eye for analysing data and a continuous improvement mindset, you will use the data to make strategic business decisions to improve reporting, service delivery and overall operations of the service.

To thrive in this role, you will need great communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution. You will also have:

· Strong stakeholder engagement and networking skills

· years in a management or operations role – preferably in Community Services sector

· Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or other relevant Community Services discipline

· Strong financial acumen with budget and reporting experience

· Strong operational leadership, with proven capability in providing supervision, guidance and professional development to team members

· Experience in collaborative practice and interagency coordination

The preferred applicant will be required to hold a valid driver's license, and have, or will acquire, a Working with Children Check and a National Police Records Check.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence including AVO applications, criminal prosecutions and related legal matters such as family law, care and protection, migration and victim's compensation issues;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Legal Aid NSW policies in relation to grants of legal aid for people in domestic and family violence matters;
  • Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAS Service Agreement, the WDVCAS Policy and Procedure Manual and other operational documents;
  • Good organizational, administrative, financial and management skills;
  • Ability to implement service delivery strategies aimed at ensuring the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of NWDVCAS services to a diverse range of women and children;
  • Experience in maintaining constructive working relationships with key stakeholders and good networking skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in management, negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;
  • Knowledge of and an ability to work effectively with interpreter services; and
  • Current clearance in relation to Working with Children or other relevant NSW Police Force checks.
