Due to this enormous growth, a brand new role has been created for a Senior Financial Accountant.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to an entrepreneurial and highly influential Group Tax & Accounting Manager, this Senior Financial Accountant will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its aggressive growth journey.

This role is responsible for:

  • Monthly close and compliance with statutory reporting requirements of the parent entity and Group in line with the ASX reporting requirements;
  • Consolidation of the group financial results, completion of relevant reconciliations and preparation and oversight of intercompany transactions and reconciliations;
  • Correct and effective maintenance of the financial accounting and general ledger systems;
  • Providing technical inputs and preparation of technical papers on the impact of accounting standards as they apply to the group; and
  • Effective maintenance of financial controls and processes and identify opportunities to innovative or improve processes across the finance function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Group Tax & Accounting Manager and working closely with senior management, your key responsibilities as the Senior Financial Accountant will include:

Financial accounting, statutory reporting and maintenance of accurate records

  • Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely month end reporting processing including relevant journals, analysis, reconciliations, and reporting for the Group;
  • Preparation of the monthly consolidation of the group's financial results, including the elimination entries;
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Ensure all day-to-day transactions are accounted for in the company's accounting system on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies and procedures;
  • Assist as required with the controlled, efficient and timely production of half year and full year statutory financial reports and in compliance with the statutory reporting and ASX reporting obligations;
  • Co-ordinate external audit and review process for the group including preparation of notes to financial statements and preparing information required by the auditors;
  • Preparation of the monthly revenue and gross margin reconciliation for the group in accordance with the relevant accounting standards; and
  • Assess expected credit losses in accordance with the relevant accounting standards; and
  • Interpret information received from processing functions for the Group including AP, AR and payroll and provide feedback, where required.

Technical accounting subject matter expert

  • Provide technical input in relation to interpretation and implementation of accounting policies and new and revised accounting standards, as they apply to the business.
  • Support assessment of the financial accounting impact of key commercial strategies as and when required.

Direct and indirect taxes

  • Manage the R&D incentive application process including preparation of the annual R&D Tax incentive costing work paper and coordination with external consultants.
  • Prepare calculations, reconciliation and reporting for government grant requirements.

Processes, systems and controls maintenance

  • Lead projects to transform global finance processes and streamline reporting via implementation of new software tools.
  • Support the internal audit process and oversee or carry out internal audit procedures of the operations processes as may be required;
  • Oversee accurate, controlled, efficient and timely maintenance of designated master files, fixed asset registers and sub-ledgers in the system for designated entities in the Group;
  • Assist with the upgrade of the new ERP system and where possible optimise financial processes and internal controls .
  • Identify and implement process and systems improvements within the financial accounting and transactional processing functions to improve quality of financial control and reporting; and
  • Support financial risk management including hedging programs and working capital management for designated entities in the Group.

Other

  • Provide assistance to and collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver key business projects;
  • Assist in managing the organisational relationships with its suppliers, customers, banks and other stakeholders; and
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures including financial, Quality Management Systems and Occupational, Health and Safety.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance;
  • CA or CPA qualified with ~5 years of accounting experience with audit or statutory reporting background;
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of current accounting standards (IFRS and AASB) and tax reporting obligations;
  • Experience gained in Big 4 Chartered Accounting firm or ASX listed multinational companies is advantageous;
  • Highly systems literate and experienced in using ERP systems;
  • Highly analytical and strong problem-solving skills;
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, data analysis and reconciliation procedures;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal and relationship skills;
  • Ability to take responsibility and resolve issues;
  • Agile, proactive and responsive;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Ability to work and meet with tight deadlines; and
  • Good coordination skills.
