The opportunity

Take the lead in library services at Overnewton College's Yirramboi campus. As Library Leader, you'll drive curriculum support, inspire a love of reading, and lead a team dedicated to delivering innovative resources. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the effective and efficient daily operations of the libraries.
  • Oversee the development of exemplary print and digital collections, monitoring suggestions for purchase from staff and students, liaising with Curriculum Leaders to facilitate the development of resources and library services to support curriculum objectives in Middle School and Senior School.
  • Evaluate, support and monitor the library's use of new and emerging technologies, applications and devices within the College community.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure the ongoing improvement of the Library and Information Services.
  • Manage library operating and capital budgets, overseeing the ordering, processing of teaching and learning resources in Middle School and Senior School.

  • Develop the culture of reading by providing an environment that encourages reading, promoting engaging reading sessions and new acquisitions, organising digital and print displays, and Book Week activities.

  • Assist with the design, implementation and resourcing of curriculum at each year level in Middle School and Senior School, making recommendations regarding resources to meet the needs of student learning outcomes at each year level.

  • Lead professional learning opportunities for staff as required.

  • Promote the Library and Information Services via relevant communication channels.

About You

  • Suitable teaching qualifications and experience, with current VIT registration
  • Well versed in library and information systems, online databases, and print and digital resources which support the curriculum.
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of literature, reading engagement and literary trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and VCE.
