The Opportunity

Automation Engineer - PLC/Robot Programmer

Reporting to The Engineering Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced qualified Automation Engineerfor our manufacturing facility.

Overview:

Your ability to communicate with key personnel as well as experience with programming will prove invaluable to your success in this role.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Programmer for the automation of plant equipment, systems and alike. This role represents our commitment to developing and delivering safe, effective, and reliable products for this highly regulated industry.

This is a full-time onsite position reporting to the engineering manager. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Manufacturing Departments to drive automation in our Keilor Park site.

Responsibility:

You will provide programming and scope, as well as create and update detailed programming. You will collaborate with key staff both internally and externally, all the while demonstrating a good understanding of the process. Work as a team member within a friendly and dynamic environment to deliver automation solutions for a range of projects. Openness to assist with site project commissioning is advantageous

Key duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Development and maintenance of PLC programs and automation systems.
  • PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, and development across a variety of platforms.
  • Plan, develop and implement new and existing programs.
  • Assist in ensuring the technical integrity of the Mechanical Plant Process Automation component of activities associated with the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing plant within the manufacturing facility.
  • Perform programming required to ensure effective and efficient control systems.
  • Review PLC project requirements and specifications to meet functionality and design needs.
  • Investigate and bring forward management changes for improving control systems.
  • Continuously improve PLC programs for optimised productivity.
  • Assist in the start-up and implementation of automated control systems.
The successful candidate will possess:
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential).
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical or IT Robotics-related degree is an advantage
  • Experience on different PLCs (OMRON, Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, etc) in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Robot integration is highly regarded.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience as a PLC Programmer/Automation Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • The ability to build solid relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to introduce and implement continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to meet timely deadlines.
