What You Will Do As a Senior Analyst
Senior Analysts work under the limited direction of Assistant Directors or Directors and are responsible for a range of work which may include:
- Undertaking investigations and competition analysis of mergers across a wide range of industries, and presenting that analysis in recommendations to ACCC Commissioners and Senior Managers.
- Carrying out economic, legal or data advice and analysis.
- Conducting consultations with market participants and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Liaising with other Australian Government agencies and overseas competition and consumer agencies about the ACCC's mergers work.
- Supervising and developing junior staff.
- Assisting with the review of decisions by the Australian Competition Tribunal, assisting with litigation in the Federal Court including preparation of instructions for the ACCC's lawyers and liaison with expert consultants.
About You
The suitable candidates will have:
- A minimum of two years work experience after graduating from a relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification would be highly regarded but not mandatory.
- Experience working within an economic context that required providing economic advice, recommendations or analysis.
- Experience working professionally within a legal context that required undertaking legal analysis or drafting.
- Experience as an investigator/analyst or compliance officer with a particular focus on contributing to economic or market analysis within a regulatory context.
- Experience in an academic context relevant to competition or consumer protection law or related field.
In order to succeed in the role, you will also have:
- A developed understanding, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation, as well as a sound general knowledge of the roles and functions of the ACCC.
- A demonstrated ability to effectively research, investigate and analyse competition issues, interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
- Engage, support and work collaboratively with other people, plan, organise and prioritise a demanding workload, supervise, develop and invest in junior staff.
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, data or similar fields.

$99,562 - $111,590 (plus 15.4% superannuation).
