Primary objective

Assist with the development and monitoring of the Agency's Budget, analyse financial data and provide clear and meaningful

reports and advice to relevant divisions, branches and relevant stakeholders.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Play a key role in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of enhancements to the Department's reporting

and analysis systems.

2. Assist in the development of budget notifications and NT Health's forecasting of revenue and expenditure within the framework

of respective budget and actuals exercises and government policy direction.

3. Undertake detailed financial analysis, monitor expenditure and revenue, examine budget versus actuals trends and prepare

reports to provide meaningful and timely advice to key stakeholders and other management as required.

4. Examine and implement methods of analysis, evaluation and presentation of FTE and financial performance data that will

support effective management decisions.

5. Develop complex financial models to assist management decision-making utilising spreadsheets and/or other database

applications.

6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in, or detailed knowledge of, finance, budgetary procedures and accounting practices, including

accrual accounting.

2. Strong analytical skills, with proven ability to analyse and evaluate programs, statistics and Agency budgetary inputs, including

both revenue and expenditure, to determine financial implications and assemble data clearly and concisely.

3. Sound knowledge of the relevant government financial legislative requirements.

4. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior

management.

5. Numerical, statistical and attention to detail skills of a high order and the ability to work under pressure within tight time frames

to meet deadlines.

6. Experience, knowledge, aptitude and ability in the use of information technology, in particular, spreadsheet and database

applications.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or related discipline.

2. Experience with government financial management systems.
