Senior Financial Accountant

Your new team

Work as part of the Group Finance team in order to assist the Financial Manager in the full accounting function of certain companies within the Auto & General Group, maintaining a best practice control environment and ensuring seamless delivery to operational Finance functions.

The role

• Lead the preparation of the month-end and year-end close ensuring general ledger reconciliations are performed and reviewed on a timely basis.
• Preparation of monthly management reports and annual financial statements including, but not limited to:
• • Process all journals as required (including accruals, provisions etc)
• General Ledger reconciliations
• Production of P&L, Balance sheet, Cash flow statements, variance analysis and regulatory reports.
• Preparation of annual external audit files and annual Statutory & Regulatory Reporting.
• Take ownership for end-to-end accounting and planning functions for certain Group entities.
• Board and Senior Executive reporting.
• Prepare and ensure completion of monthly internal control testing.
• Mentor, coach and grow the capability and skills of the Finance team.
• Support the Treasury function for the Group (Cash flow forecasting).
• Support and assess new business initiatives ensuring that they meet all finance, regulatory and reporting requirements.
• Identify continuous improvement initiatives, the continuing streamlining of financial accounting processes and document changes to processes and procedures.

What experience you'll bring

• You are degree qualified in Finance, Accounting or a related field and are CPA/ CA Qualified with at least 5 years of experience in an accounting role within a commercial or chartered environment.
• A strong understanding of business processes and internal controls related to accounting, finance and wider business practices.
• Advanced Excel and data reconciliations skills, strong experience working in an ERP environment. TM1, SQL and/or financial modelling experience would be advantageous but not essential.
• Must have attention to detail and be meticulous.
• Proven experience in process improvements and or system implementation
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with and influence multiple stakeholders across all levels.
• Self–motivated, strives for efficiency and is able to work autonomously to meet reporting deadlines.
• A team player with the ability to demonstrate initiative, and attention to detail in a demanding, but rewarding environment.
