The role

Reporting to the Group Chief Risk Officer, the General Manager Group Compliance is a key senior leadership role within the Group Risk function. Responsible for regulatory compliance and risk management, the GM Group Compliance provides strategic and operational advice to the Group's Executives that is fit-for-purpose and commercially viable. The role will deliver a robust compliance management approach that delivers business capability and embedment in managing compliance obligations, including simple and effective frameworks, advisory support, oversight & monitoring, assurance and insights through reporting on the compliance risks for the Group.

Role Specific:

  • Development and management of the compliance management framework for the Group, ensuring it addresses the key regulatory requirements and provides a practical and commercial approach to compliance management
  • Development and management of the Breach Reporting framework, ensuring it delivers to the regulatory requirements of mandatory breach reporting
  • Provision of oversight and monitoring of the Group's compliance to its AFSL, ASIC, APRA, Privacy, ICA/CGC/Code
  • Develop and manage the regulatory change roadmap, with Legal advice of the changes, including providing a roadmap for the business owners and supporting them in fulfilling their compliance obligations
  • Development and management of the compliance obligations register for the Group, ensuring it meets the regulatory requirements and is presented to the accountable business owners in a way that supports the effective and efficient management of compliance obligations

Qualifications and Experience

You are an accomplished financial services leader with a strong background in compliance, legal or risk, bringing with you a proven track record in driving performance and enhancing workplace culture. You excel in strategic planning and team management. With strong commercial acumen and a focus on continuous improvement and risk management, you effectively address complex issues and implement frameworks that support compliant operational effectiveness.

You will also possess the following:

  • Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry and ideally insurance, with exposure to the governing regulatory bodies (in particular APRA, ASIC, OAIC)
  • Substantial leadership and management experience commensurate with 7+ years in a relevant within a comparable organisation environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a strategy and deliver transformational business and cultural change within a substantial Department or a Division.
  • Excellent understanding and delivery of people change management principles.
  • A high level of executive presence, self-awareness and personal effectiveness.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Specific experience in the Banking, Finance & Insurance and/or Technology industry, and associated understanding and knowledge of the current and emerging regulatory, commercial, technology and operational trends.
