The Role

We're seeking a dynamic and strategic Learning and Development (L&D) Manager to lead our L&D team in delivering innovative programs that drive organisational performance and capability. This is a leadership role with four direct reports, offering the opportunity to shape the future of learning at the ODPP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic learning programs in collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to a team of four, fostering capability and performance.
  • Design and evaluate engaging online and face-to-face learning experiences using instructional design expertise.
  • Manage internal and outsourced development programs, ensuring cost-effective and impactful outcomes.
  • Oversee relationships with external learning providers, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with organisational needs.
  • Play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Role-Mapped Professional Development program, a major initiative focused on equipping ODPP staff with the theory and practical skills needed to meet the demands of a busy, public-facing criminal law practice.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in adult education or equivalent experience in delivering enterprise-wide L&D programs and services.
  • A proven ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively across all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Expertise in designing and delivering innovative learning initiatives, with a focus on impact and engagement.
  • Confidence in communicating complex ideas, influencing stakeholders, and driving change in dynamic environments.
  • The ability to navigate sensitive and challenging content, including exposure to traumatic material, with professionalism and care.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to aligning learning strategies with broader organisational goals.
