Sydney, New South Wales, Australia CDC Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Make your mark in this exciting opportunity to work at Australia's leading data centres.

  • Lead planning, stakeholder engagement, and large-scale project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and secure timely planning approvals
  • Sydney CBD (Office) and Eastern Creek (Data Centre)

About us:

Established in 2007, CDC Data Centres is Australia's leading operator of sovereign, secure, world-class data centre facilities.

Headquartered in Canberra with multiple facilities in the ACT, NSW, VIC and New Zealand, CDC's diversified operations provide secure data centre configurations that support co-location, containerised and hyperscale compute environments with all campuses interconnected with high-speed carrier grade networks.

At CDC we are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We believe that everyone's unique experiences enable us to deliver meaningful benefits for our people, our clients and communities. Our mission is to attract, retain and grow the world's best data centre team.

Our people are committed, tenacious and meticulous in supporting our customers. Together, we configure the landscape to meet the security, reliability, connectivity and sustainability needs for today and tomorrow.

About the role:

The Senior Planner plays a key role in leading complex planning projects and guiding strategic and statutory planning processes. This includes overseeing the full consenting lifecycle for development proposals, ensuring compliance with legislation, guidelines, and best practice. The role works closely with councils, government agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders to deliver planning outcomes that align with both regulatory requirements and broader project goals.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead planning pathways and early engagement with authorities, coordinating consultant inputs and preparing complex planning reports.
  • Oversee end-to-end consenting processes, ensuring compliance with legislation and timely approvals.
  • Manage multiple projects, balancing timelines, budgets, and consultant coordination.
  • Build strong relationships with councils, stakeholders, and community groups through effective engagement.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and drive innovation.
  • Proactively manage planning risks and ensure compliance across all project stages.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

About you:

This role would suit someone with a strong background in planning and development approvals, who's confident navigating complex consenting and permitting processes. You bring a strategic mindset and a practical approach to getting things done - especially in fast-paced, large-scale construction environments.

You've worked closely with councils, developers, and consultants, and understand how to manage stakeholders to keep projects moving. Experience in both public and private sector planning environments will be highly valued.

This is a great opportunity to step into a senior role at the front end of CDC's project lifecycle—supporting land acquisition and early-stage planning as we continue to scale our data centre footprint across Australia and New Zealand.

  • Batchelor in Urban Land Development or City and Town Planning equivalent
  • Member of the Planning Institute of Australia or equivalent professional accreditation

Essential:

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.

How to Apply:

If you're looking to be part of Australia and New Zealand's leading large-scale data centre innovator, submit your resume and cover letter by clicking Apply.

Diversity helps us all achieve more. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all individuals are valued and respected. We believe that diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences leads to innovation and success and a culture of trust and care. We actively promote equality and strive to create a welcoming environment for all employees. At CDC we've got your back. We're dedicated to building a team that reflects the diversity of our community and we encourage everyone to bring their authentic selves to work, giving you the confidence to achieve more.
