The purpose of the role is to support the development of operational capability in relation to specialised equipment usage and management. Reporting to the Executive Manager District Coordination, the role will assist with a variety of project initiatives to ensure compliance, timely response, and the completion of deliverables in accordance with operational plans.

- Knowledge of, or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organisation.
*Primary duties
Responsibilities*
This RFSQ Role Specification Statement appends to the generic RFSQ (RFSO2) role description (key accountabilities and capabilities), and provides clarity on the duties of this role, and will see you lead by example and model QFD values and behaviours in the delivery of the responsibilities of the role, which includes:
- Coordinate the issuing, servicing, testing, and unplanned maintenance of specialised equipment, such as P3 masks, gas detectors, radios, and tablets, aligned with departmental procedures.
- Engage with Brigades to coordinate, deliver and/or facilitate all equipment relevant education (typically non-accredited training), including delivery of new asset induction to brigades before the operational use of asset can be performed.
- Maintain accurate inventory lists for effective management of equipment, monitor equipment usage for compliance to asset operating standards and policy, and provide District input into equipment specification requirements to ensure local needs are met.
- Liaise with external agencies related to equipment maintenance, such as manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers, to ensure emergency preparedness and response support.
- Provide advice in the development and evaluation of training materials, guidelines, and procedures to contribute to improved capability outcomes, and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and maintenance requirements.
- Lead activities in relation to equipment purchasing, supporting trials of new equipment and user evaluation, providing advice and support to brigades to ensure these activities follow the appropriate processes and procedures.
- Contribute to specific equipment initiatives to enhance RFSQ capability and capacity to manage pertinent technical incidents and coordinate procurement processes as needed.

Thorough knowledge of the concepts, strategies and issues associated with managing rural fire services, particularly in a volunteer environment and have a sound knowledge of and ability to provide operational leadership at emergency situations utilising the AIIMS/IMS methodology.
