RM Superannuation Services is an independently owned firm established over 35 years ago. We provide quality administration, compliance and taxation services for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) along the east coast of Australia.

Role Description

We are looking for a highly motivated SMSF Accountant with at least 2-3 years of experience in SMSF administration to join our specialist team on a 3 day part time basis. There is flexibility to work these hours over 3 to 5 days. There may also be an opportunity to progress to full time in the future as staff transition to retirement.

Important Note

Only candidates with Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship will be considered for this role. This role is NOT a remote position, it requires you to work from our offices in Newcastle West.

You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end SMSF accounting process, from data entry to the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for both accumulation & pension funds. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of clients with diverse investment holdings.

Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience (2-3yrs) in SMSF accounting, including the preparation of financial statements, tax returns and all aspects of administration for SMSFs
  • Experience in using SMSF compliance software eg, SuperMate, Class, BGL
  • A proficient understanding of SMSF compliance and tax laws
  • Exposure to a wide range of investment types within SMSF portfolios including real estate, limited recourse borrowing arrangements, managed funds, unlisted trusts, and domestic and international shares
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • A strong work ethic with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good computer skills - Proficient in MS Word & Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with other staff and clients
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving with strong analytical skills
  • Passion to deliver exceptional client service
