About the Role:
The Responsible Person/OOSH Educator will play a key role in the operation of a safe, fun, and effective Out of School Hours Care (OOSH) service for primary school-aged children. The Educator will assist in developing, delivering, and facilitating engaging after-school care and vacation care programs, ensuring a supportive and stimulating environment for all children in attendance.
This role involves preparing activities, food, providing supervision, and actively engaging with children in both structured and spontaneous play. The OOSH Educator will build positive and meaningful relationships with children, families, and the community, contributing to a strong sense of belonging and well-being for all.
At Uniting North Parramatta OSHC, we offer fun, safe, and engaging before and after school care, plus holiday programs for children in Kindergarten to Year 6. With a focus on creativity, social development, and life skills, our child-led activities support learning, build friendships, and boost confidence in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of age-appropriate after school care and vacation care programs for primary-school-aged children.

Prepare a variety of engaging activities that support the children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development.

Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.

Prepare and serve food and snacks in accordance with health and safety standards.
-
Actively engage with children, providing guidance and support to encourage social interaction, creative play, and the development of new skills.
-
Foster positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and the wider community.
-
Facilitate opportunities for both planned and spontaneous play to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Maintain a clean and organized environment that supports children's engagement and safety.
-
Monitor and report any concerns related to the children's welfare, ensuring they are addressed promptly.
-
Comply with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including child protection and OOSH program standards.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of the provision of education and care to children.
Key Selection Criteria:
-
Experience working with children, preferably in an OOSH or similar setting.

Strong understanding of child development and the ability to design and implement age-appropriate activities.
-
A genuine passion for working with children and fostering a positive, safe, and enjoyable environment.

Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with children, families, and staff.
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-
Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures relevant to the care of children.

A current Working with Children Check and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Exercise supervisory and leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Nominated Supervisor, the Responsible Person is placed in day-to-day charge of the service

Lead and develop the implementation of educational programs in the service
Desirable:

Qualification in Early Childhood Education, Education Support, or a related field.
