Your next career opportunity

As the Centre Manager for Melbourne Protein Characterisation, you'll have the opportunity to coordinate and drive the strategic and operational management of two cutting-edge research facilities. You'll oversee the Melbourne Protein Characterisation (MPC) facility and the ACRF Facility for Innovative Cancer Drug Discovery, playing a crucial role in advancing protein research and early-stage drug discovery. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing business operations, strategic planning, and resource allocation across these vital research platforms.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership and Operations: Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures for both MPC and ACRF facilities to enhance platform operations and service delivery.
  • Financial and Resource Management: Plan and manage platform budgets, oversee equipment procurement, and coordinate workforce structure to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Project and Safety Management: Lead platform refurbishment projects, manage safety systems, and ensure compliance with University and statutory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Promotion: Work closely with other Bio21 platforms, promote the centres to internal and external clients, and encourage use by university partners and industry.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced scientific leader with a strong background in operational management, financial planning, and project coordination within research facilities, particularly those focused on protein characterisation and cancer drug discovery.

You may also:

  • Hold a relevant degree in Science, preferably with knowledge and research experience in protein chemistry.
  • Have significant experience in Scientific Research and Tertiary Education sectors.
  • Possess demonstrated skills in leading and overseeing the operation of scientific equipment.
  • Excel in financial management and project coordination for research infrastructure.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Be experienced in safety management and compliance within research facilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills in complex work environments.
