The Child Health and Parenting Service are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team as a Principal Officer based in the Southern region of Tasmania.
The CHaPS Team:
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provide important health and wellbeing services for families across Tasmania with children aged 0-5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood service providers.
The CHaPS support families as they transition into parenthood, enhancing parental confidence and capacity, and providing information and services focused on building relationships between children and parents/care givers.

The Role:
- Undertake and/or coordinate complex work and major statewide projects relevant to the Child Health and Parenting Service.
- Scrutinise, research, investigate and analyse proposals and other issues of relevance to the Nursing Director and provide high level advice, develop proposals and options, and put forward recommendations.
- Provide high level advice and assistance to the Nursing Director and other senior staff in relation to the Office of the CHaPS Director and the efficient and effective discharge of the Nursing Director's functions.
- Provide high level strategic advice and support to the Nursing Director on diverse and complex issues and nominated projects and priorities.
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks and supporting policies and procedures to manage the Nursing Director's obligations, including delegations, authorisations, appointments, and approvals, in consultation with the Department of Health (DoH) Legal Services Unit.
- Represent the Nursing Director across a range of forums in complex and often sensitive negotiations as required.
You will need:
- Demonstrated high level management experience with the ability to provide a high standard of leadership in a complex, professional work environment, and a proven track record in achievement of required outcomes in the area of professional responsibility.
- Demonstrated high level experience in the management of complex and sensitive issues and the facilitation of major projects.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, including the ability to resolve problems and achieve specific outcomes.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary:
$128,102 to $134,832 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled, or has its conditions altered.
