This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in contributing to and managing innovative and challenging projects including several projects where we are current the designated Engineer or Record.

We are now the tailings and geotechnical consultant of choice for several major mining companies with operations in Australia.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities This role focuses on support our client's tailings and mine waste management and operational teams to ensure their facilities are safe.

Compliance to the latest standards (which are evolving) is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate.

This role forms part of our team to provide the technical and operation support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF).

As a Principal Tailings Engineer, this role requires the application of the tasks listed below, but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities, such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering and social engagement.

The expectation of this role is that the candidate will fulfill the role of an Engineer of Record (Eo R)Further details regarding this position are outlined in the Geosyntec Position expectations for a "Principal" Role.

Some Of The Key Responsibilities May Include Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design; Geotechnical analyses using various software packages; Understanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3 D) Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation; Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems; Project/task management and proposal preparation support; Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications; Client Development.

Education and Licensure Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field.

(required) Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field.

(preferred) Professional registration (preferred but not essential) Engineer of Record (Eo R).

(required) Skills, Experience And Qualifications At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

(required) Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (required) Knowledge of numerical modeling tools.

(preferred) Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.

(required) Excellent writing and communication skills.

(required) Field work and overnight travel may be required.

Valid Australian driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
