We have a current opportunity for a
Senior Service Engineer
, on a contract basis within the Defence sector. The role is based in
Canberra
. The contract is for an
initial 24 month period, with a 2 x 12 month extension option
.

DSS Skill Set: Level 3 - Specialist Engineering - Communications Network Engineering

The Service Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Produce and keep updated CTE design documentation.
• Continuous engagement with D-ICT to ensure that the MPE is accurately represented by the CTE.
• Deliver just in time training, and actively mentor ADF personnel during periods of instruction during activities.
• Provide responsive Level 3 technical support, and routine system and operating environment maintenance to the CTE network and ADF user community during core business hours.
• Participate in project Test and Evaluation events, Risk Reduction events, and undertake necessary technical remediation work, or other role related tasks to enable realisation of the objective.
• Conduct configuration management of hardware, software and other configurations employed on the fixed and deployable nodal Production domains. This also includes the undertaking of technical integration testing in Development environments prior to configuration update releases.
• Provide support to innovation proposals and integration of other systems such as Army Battle Management Systems, specific applications, or coalition networks.
• Support the development of CIS technical documents required for Joint and Coalition exercises, including the Joining, Membership and Exiting Instruction (JMEI), Coalition Wide Area Networking (CWAN) and NETOPS instructions.
• Provide written and oral reports from test events, and post activity assessments.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to developing capabilities via the Land Integration Framework - Digital (LIF-D) to enable a digitally integrated Land Combat System (LCS) within a Joint and Coalition Force.
• Propose innovation activities to assess emerging technologies that may support a 'future ready' LCS.
• Provide advice to ADF, APS, and contractor staff on the CTE and like systems.

Minimum mandatory requirements:

• AGSVA Security clearance
• Windows Server 2016 (and later); Windows 11 (and later); SharePoint 2016 (and later); VMWare 7 (and later); Exchange 2016 (and later); SQL Server 2016 (and later); and MECM.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with AD Federated Services and PKI.
• Configure and manage desktop and server SOEs (based on MPE design).
• Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain security controls for the CTE in accordance with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight mitigation strategies.
• Strong understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders, including ICT support teams, project managers, and security personnel.

Desirable Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in managing Linux servers within a secure Defence environment.
• Ability to monitor system logs, detect anomalies, and respond to security incidents in accordance with Defence protocols.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools and Defence cyber security reporting requirements.
• Experience in design and implementation of Land, Coalition and Joint Local Area Networks based on IEEE802.3, IEEE802.11 and TCP/IP Networks; Build and implement virtual server architectures within the Land Mission Network Environment; Manage security architectures for LNIC cross-domain solutions, including (but not limited to) AUS MPE to DSN and AUS MPE to other Mission Partner Environments.
• Experience with in-service or emerging IP networks used by the ADF including P-BTN, I-BTN, DWAN or MCSS is desirable.
• Experience with Voice and Video formats including CISCO Unified Call Manager and Presence, and CISCO Meeting Server.
• Knowledge of in-service tactical communications systems; tactical and strategic Common Operating Picture systems; and the Land Tactical Network Architecture.
• Familiarity with Mission Command and Control Applications, including deployment, configuration, and support in operational environments.
