Level 3 MSP Technical Engineer

The Level 3 MSP Technical Engineer is a senior hands-on specialist responsible for maintaining and optimising Managed IT's datacentre, network, and client environments.

This is a high-accountability, performance-driven role that demands technical depth, time discipline, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure. You'll lead complex infrastructure and network initiatives across Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix DaaS, and the Fortinet Security Fabric, while supervising NOC operations and participating in CAB change approvals to maintain ISO 27001 evidence integrity.

The position also involves travel to remote Western Australian regions for client projects and on-site implementations.

• Maintain and optimise Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Cloud/IaaS, and Microsoft Server environments.
• Design, configure, and manage the Fortinet Security Fabric — FortiGate HA pairs, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and FortiSandbox.
• Supervise NOC operations, ensuring proactive Datto RMM monitoring, alert triage, and escalation response.
• Participate in CAB change requests and approvals, ensuring documentation, risk assessment, and acceptance testing align with ISO 27001 controls.
• Manage Dell PowerEdge hosts, SAN storage, and Cloudian object repositories.
• Architect and troubleshoot switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and SD-WAN networks.
• Administer and integrate Autotask PSA, Datto RMM, RocketCyber, Datto Backup, Datto EDR, Datto AV, Veeam, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Intune.
• Lead vulnerability management and incident response aligned to ACSC Essential Eight, NIST CSF, and ISO 27001 frameworks.
• Develop PowerShell scripts for automation, monitoring, and configuration management.
• Maintain as-built documentation, Visio network diagrams, and configuration baselines.
• Oversee document management, asset tracking, and lifecycle management for client environments.
• Provide mentorship to Level 1–2 engineers and contribute to Managed IT's engineering standards.
• Demonstrate accountability to time and workload, managing priorities effectively in a high-performance environment.

• 5+ years' experience in a senior MSP or enterprise technical role.
• Certifications in Microsoft, Citrix, Fortinet (NSE 4 or above), and ITIL 4.
• Advanced technical expertise in Hyper-V, Citrix Cloud, Active Directory, Group Policy, RDS, and PowerShell.
• Deep networking experience — switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, and firewall configuration.
• Proven experience with the Fortinet Security Fabric, Datto RMM, Autotask PSA, RocketCyber, Datto Backup, Datto EDR, Datto AV, Veeam, Defender, and Intune.
• Strong understanding of Dell server infrastructure, SAN storage, and Cloudian object storage.
• Demonstrated experience producing accurate documentation, as-builts, and Visio diagrams.
• Strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain operational discipline.
• Willingness to travel to remote WA regions for project delivery and client support.
