The Role:

In the newly created position of Human Resources Manager, you will be the sole HR resource for a dynamic SME. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and implement HR strategies from the ground up, directly impacting the company's growth and success. You'll work closely with leadership to develop and maintain a robust HR infrastructure that supports the business objectives and fosters a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Systems and Infrastructure:

  • Drive the implementation of Elmo software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Create and manage employee databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of personnel records

Policies and Programs:

  • Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices
  • Create and implement employee engagement programs to boost morale and retention
  • Design and roll out training and development initiatives to support employee growth and company objectives

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, from job posting to onboarding
  • Develop innovative strategies to attract top talent in a competitive market
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and create job descriptions

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all employment contracts (existing and future) and conditions comply with relevant legislative requirements, including the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards (NES), applicable modern awards and enterprise agreements and industrial relations.
  • Prepare and submit regular HR reports to management, including workforce analytics and key performance indicators
  • Stay abreast of changes in employment law and update company policies accordingly

Performance Management:

  • Design and implement a robust performance review system
  • Train managers on effective performance management techniques
  • Facilitate performance improvement plans and disciplinary processes as needed

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • Conduct annual remuneration reviews, ensuring competitive and fair compensation packages
  • Develop and manage employee benefits programs
  • Analyse market trends to ensure our compensation strategy remains competitive

Employee Relations:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee queries and concerns
  • Mediate workplace conflicts and promote a positive work environment
  • Foster open communication channels between management and staff

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior HR role, within a private, SME environment
  • Relevant industry such as construction or building products would be an advantage
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies and systems
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations
  • Experience with HRIS and proficiency in HR analytics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • AHRI certification preferred
