An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join the Quality team at Portland District Health.

The Quality and Safety Officer play a key role in supporting a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence. This position is primarily responsible for monitoring the organisation's clinical incident management system (RiskMan), conducting incident reviews, supporting root cause analyses, and ensuring compliance with Safer Care Victoria and relevant accreditation standards. The officer works closely with clinical teams to promote best practices in quality and safety and must have a strong clinical background to effectively interpret clinical incidents and risks.

About you:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional, or relevant clinical discipline.
  • At least 5 years post-registration clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with incident management systems (VHIMS/RiskMan).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to review clinical incidents and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports and managing documentation.
  • Previous experience in a quality, risk, or clinical governance role is desirable
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis, incident investigation, or risk assessment is desirable
  • Knowledge of Safer Care Victoria frameworks and NSQHS Standards is desirable
