About the opportunity:

Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for high-impact public sector work? Join DEM as a Principal Communications Advisor, where you'll lead the development and delivery of communications strategies that support key government projects and initiatives.

In this senior role, you'll:

• Lead and manage high-profile, politically sensitive communications activities aligned with DEM's strategic priorities.
• Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies across digital, media, and stakeholder platforms, ensuring compliance with government standards.
• Provide expert advice and consultancy to senior executives on communications approaches and risks.
• Mentor and guide a dynamic communications team, fostering excellence in project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Key Selection Criteria:

Please only address the dot points listed below in your application

• Expertise in Communications and Marketing: Demonstrated high-level knowledge of communications and marketing strategies across all media, including digital platforms, social media, and website development, particularly within a government context.
• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using software applications including CRM systems, electronic marketing platforms, desktop publishing tools, and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, consult and influence stakeholders, manage conflict diplomatically, and build collaborative relationships across sectors.
• Strategic Planning and Project Delivery: Experienced in developing and advising on policies and strategies, delivering targeted campaigns, managing multiple projects, and providing clear reports and briefings to senior executives.

Qualifications:

Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent.

Remuneration:

ASO7 salary range $108,109 - $116,864 per annum + superannuation

Ongoing full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week

Special Conditions:

• Out of hours work may be required.
• Intrastate and interstate travel may be required.
