The College Headmaster is inviting applications from exceptional Secondary Teachers (from any faculty) with a passion and skillset in pastoral care and are active Christians for the position of Leader of Care and Culture - Stage 4 (years 7-8). The role is a Leadership 2 position. The role will commence in 2026.

The successful applicant will be registered with the New South Wales Educational Standards Authority (NESA) and be accredited as a Proficient or an Experienced Teacher. The Leader of Care and Culture – Stage 4 would be accountable to the College Headmaster through the Director of Care and Culture 7-12 for driving student wellbeing for Stage 4, supporting the Secondary Leaders of Learning and Stage 4 teachers in developing and implementing programs and initiatives that support student wellbeing and personal development. They will oversee practices that promote care for students and maintain the College culture. The Leader of Care and Culture is a member of the Senior Management Team of the College.

Wollondilly is a co-educational Christian College operated by the Anglican Schools Corporation. It is a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 co-educational College located in pleasant rural surroundings at Tahmoor, about 60 minutes from Sydney's CBD. The College strives for educational excellence in a Christian context and includes modern, permanent, air-conditioned buildings. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading, supporting and developing the Year 7 and 8 Patrons and working closely with the Leaders of Care and Culture Stage 5 and 6.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Student wellbeing in stage 4
  • Be involved in the development of the learning dispositions for Stage 4 and oversee their implementation with Secondary Leaders of Learning and Stage 4 teachers
  • Professional development of staff, including management of pastoral care issues in the classroom and beyond - related to learning dispositions
  • Teaching in the faculty that you have experience and qualifications in
  • Resource management and budgeting
  • Policy development
  • Monitoring student attendance in Stage 4
  • Supporting the development of Student Leadership in Stage 4
  • Proactive in wellbeing initiatives to support students
  • Oversee the development of the Wellbeing Framework, pastoral care programs and roll call devotions/wellbeing content for Stage 4
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Leader of Learning, Care and Culture - Stage 3 to support the transition from Stage 3 to 4
  • Implementation of the College discipline policy in Stage 4
  • Contribution to initiatives and events that enhance the public image of the College
  • Reporting at Care and Culture meetings and communication with Leaders of Learning Secondary and Stage 4 teachers relating to care and culture along with student wellbeing
  • Monitoring the merit system for students in Stage 4
  • Promotion of community events and recognition of student participation
  • Transport (bus) issues specific to Stage 4 students
  • Work with the College Chaplain in relation to Chapel Services and Programs related to students in Stage 4
  • Meet fortnightly with Year 7 and 8 Year Patrons
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of regulatory documentation and policies pertaining to care and culture
  • MC Formal Assemblies and other formal events involving Stage 4
  • Coordinate and oversee Stage 4 Monday Morning Assemblies and Stage 4 Year Meetings
  • Monitor and run Stage 4 Lunch-Time Detentions
  • Coordinate Year 7 Camp
  • Using relevant data to track and monitor student learning and engagement through Stage 4
  • Monitor students who are identified as being at risk – socially, emotionally and behaviourally
  • Plan, coordinate and implement initiatives that support student wellbeing and promote connectedness across Stage 4
  • Work closely with the Leader - Advanced Learning and Learning Support 7-12 to provide input into plans related to the learning, care and wellbeing of Stage 4 students
  • Work closely with the Director of Teaching and Learning 7-12 to monitor and support the learning, needs and care for students in Stage 4
  • Assume the role of Acting Director of Care and Culture 7-12 if required
  • Attend College organisational meetings including some evenings and non-term time as required

Communication:

  • Advocacy for staff and senior staff recommendations
  • Effective communication of and advocacy for Executive decisions
  • Strong personal presence at College community events such as Working Bees, ANZAC Day, Thirlmere Steam Festival, Staff functions
